Obstructive Sleep Apnea
What is Obstructive Sleep Apnea?
Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a condition in which a person had episodes of blocked breathing while they sleep. Many patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea are unaware of the apnea while they sleep. It is often a spouse or family member that aware of the periods of apnea.
A person with Obstructive Sleep Apnea typically snores very heavily soon after they fall asleep. The snoring will continue for a period of time, often becoming louder with time. The snoring is then interrupted by a long period of silence, at which time the patient is not breathing. This is followed by a gasp or loud snot and snoring then resumes. This cycle repeats through out the night.
What are the symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea?
